H. Joe Raassi
President
Joe has over 30 years of experience in the IT industry. He first started his career as a
lecturer in mathematics and computer science in Europe and the Middle East and then
moved to Silicon Valley in 1986. Since then he has worked for several leading software
and systems companies, including Informix, Veritas Software, Network Appliance,
Chromatic Research, and NetIQ Corporation.
At these companies, Joe was involved, as a developer, tester, and manager, in several
projects including C/C++ Compilers, Unix Kernel, Storage Management, Programmable
Multimedia Processors, and Systems and Applications Management Software. He has
also held executive management and consulting positions at several companies, including ‘Director of Quality Assurance’
at NetIQ and Chromatic, where he built, trained, mentored, and managed world-class software engineering teams in
the U.S. and abroad.
Joe's research and work interests include test tools and efficient testing, code coverage, risk and change management,
test automation, software release engineering, the cost of poor quality software, software engineering process models
and standards, software engineering training, and testing/QA in Agile and Open Source development environments. He
currently works as an independent software engineering contractor and is involved in QA consulting and training projects
in the U.S. and abroad.
Joe holds a MS degree in Computer Science from Loughborough University in the U.K, and is an honors graduate of
the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications. He did his Ph.D. studies at Universities of Warwick and Edinburgh, and
is currently a doctoral degree candidate at the University of Phoenix.
His hobbies include hiking, music, traveling, and reading about world history and cultures. He has three children and
lives with his wife in Los Altos, California.
